Opportunity to Participate in Monaghan Comhairle na aOg "An Alternative Way to Celebrate" for Monaghan Youth and Junior Cert Students PDF Print E-mail

Monaghan Comhairle na nÓg is a Youth Council which represents all areas of County Monaghan.  The purpose of the Council is to work on local issues  and be a voice for the youth of the County.  The Council has been approached by Monaghan Town Joint Policing Committee to work on a campaign to combat underage drinking and anti-social behaviour. The focus for this campaign is to coincide with the Junior Certificate results on the 08th September.

In an effort to offer some alternatives to students celebrating their results and reduce the potential for underage drinking, the Junior Councillors have come up with a clever campaign! They are asking local service providers to offer some kind of a special offer for 5 DAYS ONLY, from the 08th – 12th September.

This could be 20% off, buy 1 get 1 free, 1 person goes free with group bookings of 5 or more. Parents of Junior Certificate students may want to reward their son/daughter for obtaining great results, this is your business' chance to be that reward!

An alcohol awareness campaign will be run from the 30th August until the 12th September.
As part of this campaign the Youth Council wants to offer “An Alternative Way to Celebrate - The Guide”. This will be distributed to every student receiving results in each of the 12 Secondary Schools in County Monaghan and  has the  potential of reaching 1000 students. Those participating in the campaign will also be promoted through the local media, leaflets and radio.

To get involved in this initiative provide the following details:
* Company logo
* Company name, address and contact details
* What your special offer is
* Deadline for receipt of information is Friday 06th August.

Feargal Quinn’s Retail Therapy is a six part series for RTÉ One where retail innovator Feargal Quinn offers advice to retailers who are struggling to stay afloat in the current economic climate.

The series is looking to champion independent Irish retailers who represent individuality on the streets of Ireland’s towns and cities.  Feargal is passionate about helping businesses who are putting it up to the multinationals and offering Irish consumers something different than they would get anywhere else in the world.  Feargal will help these businesses to eradicate their weaknesses, exploit their strengths and identify a unique selling point which will make them stand out from the competition and attract customers to their door.

Last year’s series was a great ratings success and the businesses involved have reported an improvement in both sales and staff morale as a result of their involvement in the programme.

The series will be on air at the beginning of 2011 and filming will take place over the next six months.

The produceres are looking for all kinds of shops so any members who are interested should get in touch with the producers by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or calling Laura on 01 6468246.
